The main objective of BIO Deutschland is to design the economic conditions to ensure that dynamic growth within the biotech sector is possible. The BIO Deutschland focuses exclusively on the special needs of typical biotechnology companies and acts as an independent lobbying organization.

In 2009 the fundraising event has benefited the Alliance Rare Chronic Diseases (“ACHSE” e.V) and organized with the support from the LORENZ Life Sciences Group, Celgene and Miltenyi Biotec as well as of the Opera „Unter den Linden“ Berlin and the Hotel de Rome.

Among the guests were numerous representatives of biotechnology companies and service providers in the industry, representatives from politics, administration, the sciences and the press. The introduction was given by Prof. Dr. Detlev Ganten, president of the charity committee. As special guest, Anna Samuil – a Russian international sopranist, who was accompanied by her husband, sang parts of the opera „La Bohème“ and „Gianni Schicchi“. Peter Heinrich, CEO of BIO Deutschland thanked all guests, artists and sponsors for their support.

In addition to the monies provided by the sponsors, 11,000 Euros were collected through gathering of donations from the tables. This amount, together with the proceeds from the event will soon be given to the ACHSE e. V.
